Use:
To achieve efficient feeding for rejection free castings.
Characteristics at a glance:
- Dimension: Dia 25 mm to 750mm,
- Type : Open, Blind, Doom and Oval
- Moisture: 1.5% to 2% max
- Bulk density: 0.55 to 0.8gm/cc
- Sensitivity : 40 – 80 secs. for 1 inch cube at 1050°c depending upon riser dia.
- Permeability: 30 to 35
Chemical Properties:
- Base: Aluminium Oxide
- Free Aluminium: 15% to 25%
Advantages:
- 1. Minimum heat loss from riser
- 2. Requires negligible amount of heat for its burning
- 3. No Metal penetration, clean strip from risers
- 4. Highly resilient nature, can withstand shock and impact while jolting / squeezing
- 5. Very low feed metal requirement. About 30% to 35% reduction in that for conventional sand riser sizes
