A mixed refractory water based coating for dip and spray application

Product Description:

EXOCOTE - RGW water based coating in the liquid form is specially formulated for dip application on shell and hot box cores. The mixed refractory filler deposition, completely and uniformly, ensures the core surfaces of clean fusion free casting. This coating is particularly suitable to cast automotive castings.

How Does It Work?

A mixed refractory filler is chosen to produce a casting surface free from sand fusion and metal penetration. Shell and Hot Box Cores have surfaces that are hydrophobic in nature. Special coating formulations are therefore required to take care of this problem and ensure the coating sticks to the core surfaces.
Water based coating supplied in the powder form shows inconsistent coating behaviour and does not work satisfactorily on shell and Hot Box Cores. Paste products, specially formulated, however, can work with shell and Hot Box Cores satisfactorily, but they require very elaborate preparation, involving long mechanical stirring and mixing twice.
EXOCOTE RGW is supplied in liquid form in the dilution state as required by the customer and it requires minimal preparation before use. The coating results are extremely consistent and ensures satisfactory performance.

Use:

• 1. Clean the dip tank thoroughly.
• 2.Transfer the required quantity of coating into the dip tank.
• 3. Adjust the viscosity or Baume to the desired level by gradual addition of water in the dip tank with continuous stirring by hand or a stirrer.
• 4. Dip the cores and allow the dipped cores to rest on trays. Spray cores with the coating where dipping is not possible.
• 5. Dry the coated cores in the oven.

Advantages:

• 1. EXOCOTE-RGW coating is very easy to prepare as they are supplied more or less in ready-to-use condition.
• 2. The coating preparation being fast, and application and deposition of coating almost immediate, high productivity is ensured.
• 3. The coating performance is extremely consistent, as thorough mixing of all ingredients of coating takes place while manufacturing the same in. the liquid form.
• 4. EXOCOTE-RGW gives complete and uniform coverage of paint on the cores which ensures good casting finish free from sand fusion and penetration. This in turn lowers the fettling time and cleaning costs.
